Multi-Sensory Tutoring

K-12 fun, individualized learning.

Engaging, hands-on tutoring methods, customized for how the student learns.

  • Increase reading, comprehension, and writing skills
  • Strengthen self-efficacy through social-emotional learning and celebrating the wins in every session

Words Connect To Meaning

We take in information through the senses.  This information is stored as memories which connect to personal and cultural meaning.  Using all the senses to decode new words, understand definitions, and link to personal experience supports students in learning more efficiently and helps them integrate with previous learning.

Visualize To Understand

Reading can create a movie in the mind.  Many students who do not like to read or struggle with retaining and understanding stories are not able to easily make pictures in their mind.  Practicing the skill of visualizing words, sentences, and paragraphs supports students in bringing a story or text to life which allows them to understand and integrate knowledge.

Using the skill of visualizing when writing essays supports students in:

  • identifying  when to clarify and pare down information
  • edit grammar and punctuation
  • increasing descriptive language

Rio is always able to validate my son's ADHD tangents, then quickly bring him back to the lesson.  My son loves working with her and is willing to work hard in their sessions.

My granddaugher started out reading kindergarten level and has made steady progress over the last two months and now is reading at 1st grade level.  We have more progress to make but I'm confident she will get up to her grade level - 3rd grade.

My daughter doesn't warm up to adults very easily, but felt comfortable with Rio right away. She always enjoyed their sessions and made stead progress in comprehension.

Rio has been able to encourage my daughter to complete her homework and turn it in - not an easy task. I don't know how she does it, but my daughter likes working with Rio and is slowly increasing internal motivation!

My son loves acting out stories with Rio! I can see how this has helped my son enjoy reading more and understand what he's reading.
